- The Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 Mythos is inching closer to production.
- Features an aerodynamic body kit and an even more menacing face.
- Model could be equipped with a new twin-turbo V8 producing 637 hp.
Mercedes-AMG is known for high-performance, but the company has been gun-shy about certain coupes. The last E-Class Coupe maxed out in 53 guise and so has its successor, the CLE.
However, that’s about to change as the company is working on a new CLE 63 Mythos. The model was teased in January and promises a “more uncompromising appearance” as well as a “correspondingly powerful drivetrain and performance to match.”

Spy photographers have now caught a prototype undergoing testing on and around the Nürburgring. Looking like a proper CLK Black Series successor, the coupe follows in the footsteps of the CLE 53 but adopts a unique front bumper with a full-width lower intake. We can also see an extreme aerodynamics package that includes canards, a front splitter, and a massive rear wing.
Designers have also given the model sportier side skirts and what appears to be extended fenders. The latter cover lightweight wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system.
Additional changes are limited, but the Mythos adopts a squared off four-tailpipe exhaust system that identifies it as a 63 variant. The 53, on the other hand, has four circular tips. Elsewhere, the model has a new diffuser, a ventilated hood, and what appears to be revised front fender vents.

The interior should largely carryover, meaning we can expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch infotainment system. That being said, the limited edition will likely have far more aggressive sport seats, carbon fiber trim, and some weight saving measures. The latter could potentially see the removal of the rear seats.
The CLE 63 will become the second member of the Mythos family of “exclusive, limited-edition collector vehicles.” The series was launched with the Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed, which was limited to 250 units.
The CLE 63 could be even rarer as previous reports have suggested production might be capped at 30 units. They’re rumored to use a new flat-plane-crank twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces around 637 hp (475 kW / 646 PS). That would be 194 hp (145 kW / 197 PS) more than the CLE 53.
